Debora Adachi is a Brazilian-Japanese author and illustrator based in Dublin. She has received the Highly Commended Illustration award at FAB Prize 22, and is an alumnus of Pathways 2022-2024, an illustration program that supports a diverse group of talented children's illustrators. In 2023, she graduated from Harper Collins' Author Academy for Children's Writing.
Debora is also the Illustrator Coordinator for SCBWI Ireland and a member of DesignOpp, a not-for-profit initiative that champions diversity in Irish design. She is also an artist in residence of Mother Tongues.
Originally trained in architecture, Debora combines her design and technical skills with her passion for visual storytelling, resulting in a perfect marriage of her two passions. Since changing careers, she has worked as a background artist for animation and as a freelance illustrator specializing in children's publishing.
Her diverse cultural background inspires her to create illustrations that celebrate diversity. She is drawn to themes of family, belonging, heritage, and identity.
She's a member of SCBWI and AOI.
